4WD OPEN COURSE

Want to get the best out of your 4WD vehicle?This is an informative and interactive day that will give you a good understanding of your vehicle functions and capabilities. The practical driving over the course venue will build your confidence in how you can safely get the most out of your vehicle. There are plenty of challenging slopes to drive, water crossings and steep hills for practising failed hill climbs.

You will be buzzing by the end of the day with your driving experience and the new skills you have learnt for your 4WD adventures.

A memorable, challenging and fun day out.

Time: 8.30am - 4.30pm

Costs:

$295.00 this includes gst and venue hire.

$165.00 a second person training with you.

A one-day course in North Canterbury covering:

Theory and Practical elements of best practice.
Develop knowledge and skills to drive a 4WD vehicle effectively and safely over varied terrain
Understanding your vehicle capability and functions
Reading and driving different terrain contours
Failed hill climbs, up-hill and down-hill slopes
Active traction control
Applying correct driving techniques for different surfaces
Water crossings
Vehicle recovery

LUV (side-by-side)

UNIT STANDARDS

OPEN COURSE

This is a two-day training for LUV acquiring unit standards - 24553, 24556 and 24558.

Fundamentals covered:

Health & Safety
LUV detached from trailer restraints and removed from trailer safely
Pre-start vehicle checks
LUV vehicle familiarisation - componentry, technology, transmissions, modes
Tyre types & pressure, understanding traction
Hazard identification & safety margin awareness
Driving various terrains and contours
Correct gear, Range L or H, mode selection, diff lock used
Ascending & descending a hill, sidling slopes
Failed hill climbs techniques and procedures
Water crossings
Post off-road LUV checks
Correct loading and legal restraint requirements on trailer.
