ON-ROAD TRAILER AWARENESS

Many businesses require employees to tow trailers in order to do their job. An understanding of trailer design, braking systems, connection systems, loading and appreciation of the required adjustment to driving techniques is important for safe trailer towing.

We assume people can drive with a trailer if they have a class 1 car license, but very few people are taught the specifics. Many managers or workers don’t understand what is legal or how the dynamics of vehicle control can change with a trailer load.

We provide a practical training solution to ensure staff safety within the bounds of best practise. We simplify this for you and make a practical difference.

The trailer training course is designed to produce a worker that is competent to look after your trailer and can safely operate them for work purposes.  The course takes key practical and safety elements out of the various key NZQA courses and combines them into a single package. This provides a seamless training package that can be added to our other training courses and applied in safe learning environment.

Workers will be able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attributes for all essential areas of the competency covered under the “Best Practice” guidelines for trailer use in the workplace.

This course is targeted specifically at the trailers you use at your workplace either on-road or off-road … or both!).  This course enables the trainee to safely and legally operate a trailer over varied terrain. The trainee will also be able to demonstrate the appropriate responsibilities of a driver with emphasis on accident prevention. A high level of hazard identification and safe decision-making is also promoted as well as driving techniques that minimise negative environmental impact.

The course can be customised to incorporate your own workplace policies and procedures.
